Shay's research focuses on civil claims within the family domain. Her research explores the innovative application of unjust enrichment law as an additional civil remedy, complementing tort law and contract law, to address issues like paternity fraud, refusal to grant a religious divorce, and coerced parenthood. Her article on paternity fraud was cited by the Israeli Supreme Court and earned the BIU Law Review Best Article Prize. Shay is a President Fellow in the BIU Outstanding Doctoral Students program, a recipient of a Yahel-Recanati Foundation research grant, a research fellow at the College of Management Faculty of Law, and she interned in the commercial litigation department at Goldfarb, Gross & Zeligman. In addition to her current research into family law and unjust enrichment, Shay has worked as a TA and RA in fields including tort law, contract law, property law, antitrust law, intellectual property law, and consumer protection law.
