Unjust Enrichment and Climate Change: Presented at Israel’s Leading Environmental Forum
On Wednesday, July 9th, Niv Meyerson presented at the Science and Environment Conference in Tel Aviv - an annual professional conference that serves as the broadest environmental forum in Israel. It brings together academics from various disciplines, senior officials from the Ministry of Environmental Protection, representatives from civil society organizations (environmental and social NGOs), industry leaders, and representatives from companies developing green technologies. Niv presented as part of the panel “Law and the Environment: Regulation and Policy in the Face of Climate Change,” chaired by Prof. Oren Perez. He presented a paper co-authored with Prof. Yotam Kaplan, which has not yet been submitted for peer review, on the topic of climate enrichment in Israel namely, how the legal doctrine of unjust enrichment can be used as a tool to address the climate crisis under Israeli law.
Later that evening, Niv also gave a talk as part of Tel Aviv Municipality’s “Science on Tap” event, which featured speakers from the conference delivering accessible lectures to the general public. His talk was titled: “Legal Climate: Are the Courts the Right Venue for Advancing Climate Justice?”
